In recent years, hunger and food insecurity in Latin America and the Caribbean have shown notable improvement. The prevalence of undernutrition fell from a peak of 6.1% in 2020 to 5.1% in 2024. However, this progress is mainly driven by improvements in South America. In the Caribbean, the undernutrition rate remains more than three times the regional average (17.1%). The region has the highest average cost of a healthy diet in the world and faces high levels of displacement and climate disasters.
