Famine Declared in Sudan
Famine Declared in Sudan
Haiti faces an unprecedented humanitarian crisis marked by escalating violence, forced displacement, and worsening food insecurity. The number of internally displaced people has surged to 750,000 as armed clashes have forced communities to flee, particularly in Port-au-Prince, creating a risk of famine. A resurgence of cholera and the chronic weakness of health and sanitation systems further compound the situation.
Action Against Hunger supports populations affected by violence and displacement. In the Nord-Ouest region, we deliver critical food assistance and cash support to vulnerable communities. In Nord-Est and Sud, our efforts focus on preventing malnutrition through targeted interventions. In response to the cholera outbreak in Artibonite, we implemented emergency measures to contain the disease and improve access to safe water and sanitation.
In Port-au-Prince, we provide vocational training, enhancing families’ resilience and economic prospects. We also treat children suffering from malnutrition and provide primary healthcare services to over 30,000 people. In the water, sanitation, and hygiene sector, we provide sanitation services and essential cleaning supplies.
We also collaborate with local authorities to strengthen health systems and build community-level resilience. In response to cholera outbreaks, our rapid response teams install water, sanitation, and hygiene infrastructure and enhance community-level reporting systems.
